Coast Salish first nations.

How popular was it?

It is mostly used as a fodder crop and a green manure crop. It is native to Europe, Western Asia, and parts of Africa but also naturalized in many other areas.

What illness or treatment is the plant used for?

It is used for cancer prevention, symptoms of menopause, skin cancers, burns, and chronic skin diseases but there have not yet been sufficient studies on it and it is mostly used in alternative medicine.

How does it affect the body?

Red Clover contains coumestrol, a phytoestrogen, similar to oestrogen.

How is the plant used in the treatment?

They are made into jellies and herbal teas. Their essential oils can be extracted for aromatherapy. Red Clover is also applied to the skin.
